Today the worship leader was Ee June along with piano. Kent, Andy, David, Christina and myself were on guitars, drums, singing and bass respectively.
Today Pastor continued in his studies series. Again I say this is the one most hard to swallow for me.
He reminded us to have everything you have in front of you in one go. Example, forget your calculator and rush down to grab it. You see a pack of Twisties and you take a bite. As you are about to go upstairs and study, The Simpsons is on air. Then it goes on and on....
Another method is to make your short term memory become long term memory. Why? A short term memory you'll forget it in a time span of at least a week. A long term memory will last for many years. Example, how to break an egg without bursting the yolk or how to play a song on the guitar or piano. For this to happen, all it needs is practice. Nothing else. So long story short, practice is the bread and butter of studies. Won't go anywhere without it. You'll be out of a job without practice.
He also taught us the SQ3R method which is
- Survey
- Read
- Recite
- Review
Survey is a quick dash of the chapter or sub-chapter so that you know what you're in for. Gives you an idea and prepares your brain.
Question is to ask yourself logic questions that has ties to the chapter. Once the brain actively searches for something, it speeds up.
Read the topic to answer your questions. And write down the answers for your questions.
When you're done. Recite what you've read for the past half an hour. Then check back to see if you got it right.
Review is the epilogue of the study process. Do some exercise to close the lid for good.
To close it up, we cleaned the church and most of us went for dinner.
Pictures of the day....
