Sin! How To Avoid It

We are only human and get tempted very often, so do not feel guilty. Do not feel like a failure. But most important of all, try your best to never give in. These are ways to avoid temptation. Be mindful that Lord Jesus Christ himself was tempted so he knows how we feel.

The more you believe in Christ, the more pressure Satan will put on you to sin, and it's not a simple coincidence. We need to detect an attack when it arrives. And Satan has many devices. He may use your past, pent-up anxieties of the future, or anything that will purge your feelings of worthiness and make you flunk in your relationship with Christ. For the truth is, Satan wants your soul. Back to living the ways of the world and not living the way Jesus wants us to. And if he succeeds in trapping and pulling you further from God, you would not find spiritual happiness.

Fortunately, because God has authority on Satan, He prepared us three tools to avoid sin.

- Bible/The Word Of God(Divine Truth)
- Prayer
- The Holy Spirit

The three tools mentioned above are connected is such ways.
- To strengthen the Holy Spirit within you, read the Word of God.
- Prayer also helps, pray that the Lord will give you strength to avoid sin.

Take note: Dealing and avoiding sin is totally different as mentioned by Pastor Koshy. It's better to avoid sin rather than deal with it. Satan is an evil kid fishing for souls in equivalent to fishes, he sets up a bait(temptation) and you see it. Get it, if a fish deals with the bait, he will get caught but a fish that stays away will survive. With the holy spirit warning us of Satan's bait, we can just escape and shrug it off.

How to avoid sin...

1.Avoid situations that may lead you to making a sinful act. This may mean the type of people you hang out with(friends who smoke, have boyfriends/girlfriends or friends with foul language), or the things you're interested in. Pray silently if you cannot.

2.Turn your back on sins from the past. Don't live as if it happened, live as if it did not. Once you ask for forgiveness, God then completely forgets about it. Yes, forgets as if you never sinned in the first place! So act like Him, He's forgotten and that's all that matters, so why don't you? Otherwise it has a hold on you. {and ignore Satan's voice saying "no he hasn't...are you sure...") Yes, God has forgotten your previous sins. The Word never lies because it's the DIVINE TRUTH.

3
Remember that we need to trust God even when being tempted; Resist the Devil, and he shall flee from you. He will retreat. He's afraid of us because we have God on our side. We're like small remora fish hanging on the back of a shark and fishes that are bigger than remora but smaller than sharks don't eat the remora.

I'm not sure if the words are too small to read. Sorry.

4.Remember what Jesus has done, that His blood is the only thing that can cleanse away our sins. In turn, the blood of the Lord will also cleanse our minds.

5. Strengthen your faith. Make sure the magnitude of your faith expands day by day. It is true as I've mentioned above the more we believe in Christ, the more Satan will push us. But if our faith hits a dead end, we get attacked by Satan and fail to rise, resulting our downfall of faith.

6. If you're in trouble, ask for help. When facing temptation. Whisper to yourself "Lord help me" or anything similar to that. If the situation gets tense, we can yell out "In Jesus Name". The Lord's name is extremely powerful, powerful enough to remove any emotion, thought or sickness. But be sure you speak his name only when you want to avoid sin. The Lord probably won't help you if you say something like "In Jesus name, I will deal with the sin".

One more thing. If you do give into temptation, do not sulk or weep. Pray for forgiveness, get back on your feet and continue walking with Jesus. When God forgives you, he completely forgets about your sins. Dwelling on old sins which God has forgiven will only make Satan's influence over you stronger. Be forgiven and move on.

Thank you...

Well, i just got this feeling of sharing this in this blog...It really struck me and i feel its really important for me as well as all of you...
Don't really know this but, to me, when someone pass away, i would say to myself, what will happen to his soul? Where will he go? Whether he is a 'christian' or not...and i believe that he would be asked by the Lord, 'What have you done for me?' What would he answer? what would I answer if i am in the situation...

Maybe i would say, i serve you by playing the guitar, i serve you in the youth ministry, i have worship lead or share about your glory...Is that enough? Personally i dun think so...but whether it is enough for God I'm not sure. (as i haven't find out in the bible yet) But i simply believe that God will ask me this question, 'What about my greatest commandment which i gave to you, make disciples of all nations..., have you done that?' What would i answer...

Throughout my years being a christian, I'm not sure whether i have share the gospel to others...maybe yes (unconsciously) maybe no...And throughout the years of being a Christian it does not bother me a lot...After i read the book of Matthew, it really reminded me a lot in this area (evangelise) How Jesus talk about baring fruit...about Jesus telling his disciples that the trees which do not bare fruit will be thrown into the fire...Don't know bout you, but to me its clear enough that Jesus is reminding us that we NEED and SHOULD share the gospel and the glory of the Lord to those who do not know Him whether my actions or words...

I am encouraging all of you (especially to those attending HG) to really reach out and share the gospel...Of coarse i am not expecting you to just go out to your friend and start telling him all about Christianity in one go...To evangelise takes time...it takes stages...and with prayer and patience i truly believe lives can be save...Since Esplosion is near, its a good time for you to share the gospel a little bit and invite them to the camp where there, they can be expose more about what really is Christianity...and i am also challenging you to save 1 life before the end of 2008..its hard i know, but with God grace and guidance i believe that even a person who has a heart as hard as a rock can be saved...

I'm not saying that you need to, but I'm really encouraging all of you to take this seriously...Have a blessed week of holiday...See you this coming HG service...Chaoz... :)

Desperate People by Hillsong

You cross the great divide,
You took our place
You offered up Your life, for we have failed
The veil was torn and love remained
You are holy Lord

Distraction costs us, how we seek Your face
We offer up our lives to bring You praise
A love the walls cannot contain
You are holy Lord

We're rising up in spirit and in truth
A living sacrifice we worship You
People undivided Lord hear us sing
We are Yours and You are our Kin

This is our love
Hearts joined as one
Desperate for all You are
Lord break down these walls
And see how we love
Desperate for all You are
We chase Your heart

We didn't come to leave here entertained
Or worship under any other name
We're crying out for You alone
You are holy Lord

We're rising up in spirit and in truth
A living sacrifice we worship You
People undivided Lord hear us sing
We are Yours and You are our king
We found our voiceWe found our cause
We're on our knees, the carpet's worn
We join our hearts
With distant shores sing to You Lord

Here is an video which i would like to share with all of you...

HoM3

Home by Joy Gerard

There is a place where the pain will cease
No tears, anguish, pain or disease
He is preparing it now as I write this poem
Then when it's time, I will hear "My child come home."
I'll answer the call and be on my way
No doubt in my mind, no haste, no delay
I long for that moment to be in that place
where I see my Savior, my Lord, face to face

HiS G3NeRaTiOn 19th SePteMB3r 2008

His Generation 19th September 2008.....This week, Jim (me lol) lead in worship and the songs are....Hosanna, Devotion, How Great is our God and Perfect King...Actually not me alone...we had multiple worship leaders :) Christina lead in Hosanna and Jeffery lead in Devotion...

This week also we had someone new...Nauko (PLEASE do correct me if i spell her name wrongly..and if it is wrong sry ya) from Japan...Makes me remember about KouHei last year :)

Pastor Koshy wasn't around this week, so Jeffery took his placed...Before that, just a reminder, please do still pray for Ps. Sunther and family....

Jeffery was sharing about a Group DNA...(if you guys don't know bout DNA of Jesus Christ, you can look through the previous post)
But if you guys are lazy, hehehehe jk...Again,

D-Divne truth
N-Nurturing relationship
A-Apostolic mission

Now back to what Jeffery was sharing...The DNA group is originally named, Life Transformation Group...but we (as in dunno who la) changed it to DNA cause its sounds cooler hahaha....actually, it also serve the purpose of DNA so thats why its called DNA group...
Now the group is very small...it consist of 2 or max 3 people in one group...(boys to boys, girls to girls)
The purpose of the group is to carry out the DNA of Jesus Christ in our lifes...By learning the Divine truth of Jesus Christ, by building and Nurture relationship and to have Apostolic missions....This group is the build one another through the DNA...To change each others life...to straighten the path with Jesus....to tranform the life from bad to good...

As an introduction, when each group is formed....the group is required to meet out once a week for 1 hour...Each group will also be given a paper which consists of few questions...
In one hour, the person mus ask his/her group member the questions in the paper...Now the questions are very very sensitive...it touches the deepest part of a person lifes...it reveals all secrets a person may keep...

Why this types of questions? the answer lies on the purpose of the group...every secrets of a person (secrets > i'm assuming that the secrets are bad) is revealed, then it is the purpose for the group to pray, encourage and help the person by preventing the same error in the person life from coming back...(i hope you guys get what i meant) Now the questions are extremely confidential also...what is shared in the group stays in the group...

I can't remember all the questions, but you will get it once your group is formed...Now after the questions are being asked and answered, the person will pray for the partner...and it goes the same way for the partner...after praying one can encourage each other...

Each member of the group is also required to read the bible...together or not together...every week, one must finish one book in the bible...this is to ensure that one will not fall easily...when a person in enriched with the word of God, he is more stable in the foundation of a healthy christian life...When you know the word well, which is the Divine truth, you are stronger in spirit...Thats why, reading the bible is required in this group...If lets say, one of the member does not finish the book in that week, lets say Matthew...then the following week, the group need to read the whole book of Matthew again...

I think thats it...well this is really a very very simplified version...Jeffery, if i'm missing something, please do add in...

So this group is not a must...but it is highly recommended as it changes peoples life...Based on the testimonies that Jeffery gave, it really shocked me and people can really see the transformation of people through this group...i strongly encourage you to start a DNA group.....

So thats basically it...(again Jeff, please do add if i missed anything out) There will be few announcements about the coming week, so please do be alert on the notice board...

Well, see you all next week and have a blessed week ahead of you ;)

HiS G3NeRaTiOn 29th AuGuSt & 5th SePt3mBeR 2008

Finally i'm able to update this blog...Very sorry for the delay as Jeffery and I were busy through out the weeks...i just finish my trials...so got room to breath already :) Ok, for this post, i will include all points of the sermons from Ps. Koshy for the past 3 weeks....

Continuation of DNA

Again what is DNA?
Divine Truth
Nurturing Relationship
Apostolic Mission...

So Jesus is DNA & Jesus commands DNA...which makes it the DNA of His Generation should be based on the what Jesus is and what Jesus commands....

Divine Truth - WALK

-Do you know why we are called Christians? Its a simple question and it also have a simple answer to it... Chirst-ians...in other words, we are Christ followers...

-Jesus Christ is the truth...(you sand it 'you are the way, the truth and the light')...so when we are Christ-ians means we belong to Jesus, thus we need to represent the life that Jesus lived for...A life with truth....

- What is walk? Walk can also be said live...Walk/live in the ways of Jesus...to elaborate, walk means we are worthy of the Lord by putting off the old and putting on the new...Putting of the old sins and putting on the new cleansed heart...

- As Christians, it so important to walk a life with Jesus...for example, if lets say one has a habit of stealing before becoming a christian...when he becomes a believer, the he steals twice the time he did when he wasn't a believer...and many people are like that...if this scenario happens then there is something wrong...if this scenario happens also, one is not walking a life worthy of the Lord...

- i think the points are clear enough :)

Nurturing relationship - WORD

- Jesus commanded us to build relationship with one another...love your neighbours as yourself simply means that we love those around just the same way that we love our own self...in other words, it also tells us not to be greedy...Give way and show as much love as possible to those around you...caring, encouragement, listening and etc is are all ways for us as believers to love...(was taken from the previous post to refresh u all )

- Before we can nurture relationship, we must be enriched with the word of God...It is so important for Christians to read the word of God and to be rich in it...(i'm telling this to myself also) Because when we are rich in the word of God we are also rich in the spirit of God...The word of God is the truth (divine truth) And the word of God needs to flow into our relationship with people...

- Through our relationship with people, we need to affect people's life (to the positive site of coarse) We need to change the life of people...The change darkness into light, to change the bad to the good...thats the aim of nurturing relationship...what is the meaning of relationship if one does not change one's life from bad to good through the relationship...relationship or what we call today is friendship is something where one cares for another person...by caring, one must improve the life of another person...That is nurturing relationship...

Apostolic Mission

- Apostolic mission can be divided into to types, (click here if you do not know the meaning of Apostolic mission)
i ) Warfare
ii) Witness

- warfare does not mean that go for war and etc...it means prayer...One thing which is lacking in the life of christians now days is prayer...if we want to reach out to others, we need to pray...Pray for our friends, family, teachers or people around us...Prayer is the most powerful tool that God has given us...If prayer can heal the sick, if prayer can stop wars and killing, if prayer can drive out demons and evil out of people's body, is it imposible for people to know God by prayer? Not impossible!

- Witness...witness is evangelism...one of the most hardess thing to do for christians is witnessing...Before i go further, do you know that, Jesus Christ has asked/remind us to be witnesses for poeple who do not know him 5 times in the bible...Now, whatever Jesus says is important, if Jesus says it twice, its very important, 3 times, very very important...imagine Jesus saying it for 5 times...how serious could Jesus be? Don't believe? Look into the bible...(find it...now is the time to read the bible hehehehe)

- Why is evangelism so important...Jesus wants all of his creation to be with him in heaven...but sadly not all of them are following him...'make disciples of all nations' thats is what Jesus commended us...to make followers of Jesus from all nations so that one day, they might also be lifted up into heaven...

- I'll go into how to make evangelism effective another day...

Heavy huh? guess what...there is more to go...hahahahaha...Next post will be second part :)

photos will be updated later....
