29 January 2010 - FRIENDSHIP

A valuable lesson folks. The people we call friends are powerful double edged swords that can either devastate souls or build us up... When I say that, I mean when we think someone as an honest friend and later backstabs and rebukes us and turns into our greatest enemy, that's really hard to swallow. The same can happen is boy/girl relationships. On the other hand, a truthful friend or partner who sticks to us even after knowing our worse gives a truckload of comfort.

But we must never generalize that all sincere friends must be believer. Even those who aren't with God can be righteous in their own way. One prime example... MAHATMA GANDHI... And I've known some good friends who aren't believers as well as Christian "friends" who aren't up to snuff..

Verses of the Day...

Proverbs 25:19
A friend you can't trust in times of trouble is like having a toothache or a sore foot.
If friends are always like that. We are best rid of them. An excellent source of pain and emotional suffering. Unreliable people like this are best described as enemies rather than friends.

Proverbs 12:26
The righteous should choose his friends carefully, For the way of the wicked leads them astray.
This represents the desire of our loyalty from both Jesus and Satan. The Devil tempts us with good feelings and satisfaction of greed but in truth only wants us to suffer in hell with him. Jesus offers love, truth and salvation in return for friendship. The same can be said when friends "befriend" us for money and men steal women in bed for one night and leave them devastated.

Proverbs 16:7
When we please the Lord, even our enemies become our friends
I find this hard to believe but any of the Lord's promises will be fulfilled. So far this hasn't happened before unfortunately but HEY, whatcha gonna do?

Proverbs 27:17
Just as iron sharpens iron, friends sharpen the minds of each other.
True friends will criticize and rebuke us. Just as Jesus rebuked his disciples on several occasions due to lack of faith and disobedience. Among friends, correcting each other makes each other wiser people.
