HG Update: Chronicles of the Lazy PART II
Today we did something unique. It was announcements and the message first, then only worship and praise.
Today we continue to see on what the book of proverbs have to say on the lazy man and the industrious man.
Proverbs 12:27
Lazy people don't even cook the game they catch, but the diligent make use of anything they find.
Those who are diligent will look after their possessions and make the most of them. Unlike the lazy who chucks their things everywhere. Oh man I gotta clean up my room. As well as make the most of what he has, a diligent man is also willing to preserve and prolong the use of his possessions. Examples include wiping your CD's after listening to them, exercise so you don't get health problems, keep your Nike shoes where your dogs can't reach etc.
Proverbs 21:5
The plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty. But those of everyone who is hasty, surely to poverty.
God gives assurance to the diligent that their plans will one day lead to success regardless of the time span. On the other hand, the plans of the lazy will lead to failure. This is because their plans are either of crime or gambling. That's why many people go for the loan sharks and make a mess. That's why almost no Mafia Godfather has died without being shot or not in jail. The Lord is a just and incorruptible judge.
Proverbs 12:24
The hand of the diligent will rule. But the lazy man will be put to force labor.
Look at all the MPKT guys sweeping up. You can tell by the way a man talks, dresses, eats if he's diligent or not. I know many political leaders are corrupted, but they stand out because they're diligent. They have to think a lot on every single issue. Examples include which country to send troops? How much to spend on education or welfare? How much will the next increase of petroleum price be? All these will add up to stress and insomnia.
Proverbs 22:29
Do you see a man diligent and skillful in his dealings? He will stand before kings, he will not stand before obscure men.
If we are to gain headline-busting success and get a Datukship or Tan Sri, we are to work hard, I mean VERY HARD. Our Malaysian pioneers like Datuk Jimmy Choo, Datuk Nicol David among others had to make decisions, sacrifice money and time to make ends meet. As a reward, they meet the Prime Minister and King and stand as the country's finest. The same goes to us students, If we work hard, we can stand before the headmaster and receive a certificate. If we don't, we will end up shaking hands with disciplinary teachers like Cikgu Maslow.

HG Update: Julia Returns
Today the worship leader was Ee June. Although we were without a drummer, we just do without it. The songs we sang were "Lord Of Lords", "To Know Your Name", "Open The Eyes Of My Heart".
Julia Ma returned after more than a year. Those good old days. During her time away from good-old-Malaysia, she went to train for music in ministry. 3 weeks of intensive training in Perth, Australia and 3 weeks of field work in Jakarta.
It seems that she's experienced something very very different from our quiet town of Kuala Terengganu. There, she has to adapt with different cultures not to mention speak proper English...LOL...
Julia met a few notable faces of the Christian music industry(not Hillsong) as well as hard training. Her team were also required to preach out in the streets. Boy Golly! What a faith. To preach about Jesus risking being laughed at, spat on, having people show you the middle finger and the possibility of people throwing stuff at you. Just because Hillsong United and Planetshakers are from Australia, doesn't mean it is more "Christian". Just like what Pastor says, Malaysia is more safe than the "Christian countries"
Off to Jakarta, she had to visit the needy people in the slums near the train tracks. People living under cardboard roofs without enough to eat, without education, without money and most importantly WITHOUT JESUS. She also prayed to a blind man who accepted The Lord and started praying in tongues. WOW! Now that's the reward of faith.
Jakarta is also quite an open society. There are ocassions where Julia and her team saw a guy playing gospels in a bus and having her music team rap, sing and even SCREAM at churches and cafes alike.
But unfortunately myself, Willert, Choon Khai and Michelle had to leave early for some Annual Dinner so we didn;t have the chance to sit down for some roti canai and chat. We hope to see you soon Julia, next time bring your brothers too...

Proverbs: Chronicles of the Lazy
Today has in my opinion one of the most insightful topics ever brought up by Pastor Koshy. Also another one of those "hard-to-swallow" topics, it deals with the Lord's displeasure in those who are lazy. I mean, who would've thought laziness is a sin. I've always thought of it as an uneasy habit. That's all.
But the book of Proverbs explores many of God's core commandments. Adultery, commitment, discipline to name a few. I guess laziness takes the cake for being the strangest so far.
The characteristic and aspects of a lazy man and his life are as follows.
Proverbs 6:6-11
Go to the ant, you sluggard. Consider it's ways and be wise! It has no commander, overseer or ruler. Yet it stores it's provisions in summer and gathers it's food at harvest.
Although an ant can be a pain in the butt with their bites, stings and foul stench. They are the prime example of of diligence. They don't abandon fallen comrades, they don't give up, they'll find new ways to solve their problems. They are also not as fussy as us. Tehy'll eat everything from bugs to sugar, dung to potato chips. They'll even form a raft with their own bodies to cross rivers for new territories.

Proverbs 10:26
As vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes, So is the lazy man to those who send him.
You'll fins it hard if you ask a couch potato to do a job. You'll end up with an imperfect job or worse, nothing at all. A lazy man is a troublemaker and burdens not benefits. Which is similar to sin.
Proverbs 22:13
The lazy man says "There is a lion outside, I shall be slain the streets"
A lazy man is good for nothing. Yet he has one talent, making excuses. Not necessarily lousy excuses. Some people are really good at it.
Proverbs 24:30-31
I went past the field of the sluggard, past the vineyard of the man who lacks judgement. Thorns had come up everywhere, the ground was covered with reeds and the stone wall was in ruins.
A lazy man lacks judgement and his life is poorly maintained and everything is a big mess. The fruits of his garden are sour if there are any due to lack of watering or fertiliser.
That's all folks...

Blessings of keeping the fear of the Lord
Hehe...sorry for late update guys. Well, here's the update for last week. Worship was lead by Wei Lim a.k.a Chester. Thanks a lot for worship leading. You did well dude!! Well done *claps*.
Lets just get to the main point. This is the best part which everyone wants to know. Have you ever wonder what will God gIve you if the fear of the Lord is in you? Guess what, God is going to bless you with many things if you have the fear of the Lord in you. God had called us to fear him. Here's what he says in Psalm 33:11, Come, my children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord.
Blessings :
-Proverbs 10:27, The fear of the Lord adds length to life; but the years of the wicked are cut short. ( You will have long life if you fear the Lord. If you don't then your life will be cut short!)
-Psalm 128:1-6, 1 Blessed are all who fear the Lord, who walk in his ways. 2 You will eat the fruit of labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours. 3 Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your sons will be like olive shoots around your table. 4 Thus is the man blessed who fears the lord. 5 May the Lord bless you from Zion all the days of your life; may you see the prosperity of Jeruselem, 6 and may you live to see tour children's children. Peace be upon Israel. (God will bless you, your family, your wife, and your children. God will also make you prosper!!)
-Proverbs 14:26, He who fears the Lord has a secure fortress, and for his children it will be a refuge (God will protect not only us, but our family)
-Proverbs 15:16, Better a little with the fear if the Lord than a great wealth with turmoil. (God will give us joy and peace if we fear him that to have money but no peace and joy)
-Proverbs 19:23, The fear of the Lord leads to life: Then one rests content, untouched by trouble. (We will have life when we fear God. There will be no trouble unless if God let you have trouble for other reasons)
-Proverbs 22:4, Humility and the fear of the Lord bring wealth and honor and life. (If we have humility and fears God, we will be bless with wealth, honor and good health)
-Proverbs 23:17-18, 17 Do not let your heart envy sinners, but always be zealous for the fear of the Lord. 18 there is surely a future of hope for you, adn your hope will not be cut off. (Do not be jealous of people who sins. Thus, God will surely provide a perfect future for you)
That's all dude. If there's more then I'll add in..hehe. Go and read the bible and you'll see the changes in your life!! Don't give up guys. Even the best falls down sometimes cause none is perfect in this world except God!! So, start carry the cross and go on with your journey. Remember, the bible is very important that can really build up your faith.

Lesson on Proverbs! 12th September
Tada~! Here we are again!
Today , the worship was led by Willert consisting team members, June, Kent, Andy, Wei Lim and Jeremiah for his first drumming in HG ( i think so)! XD
Right after the worship session, 5 minutes break! Pastor continued in his, Lesson on Proverbs.. last week, it's about Godly wisdom where we use our wisdom to apply in our life! Today, pastor shares about The Fear of the Lord. Hey, what you think about fearing the Lord?
If we have the wisdom of God, then we have the fear of Lord! But of course, first we need to read our bible lah!
So, understanding is to LEARN the bible and practicing what Lord teaches us!
Moreover,
And of course, if the Fear of the Lord is wisdom, what you understand from the wisdom must be practiced. And there shall be, Depart from evil. When you fear the Lord, you read Bible, then when you practicing what is written in Bible, you will depart from evil and sin!
It also stated here that, if we follow his precepts or ways, we will have good understanding.. It's just like Additional Maths, if you know follow way / formula your teacher teaches you, you will get understanding for the subject! Haha.. Wei Lim gonna hate this! XD

A lot of people, they don't fear the Lord, and just do their own things (ignoring God lah).. If we have that kind of perception, God will ignore us too and guess what? When you met problems and prayed to God, God MIGHT ignore you too..
Back to departing from evil, we also need to hate evil! What is the use if you depart from evil but loves evil and promoting it? It's like , Didn't do what is bad but make other people fall into doing wrong things.. Songs for example, a lot song has its own teaching, philosophy from the singer. Some songs give wrong teaching.
You might think "It just a song only what?" But, actually when you listen to it, your sub-conscious brain starts to pick what it contains! It's one kind of indirect hypnosis..
After the session, we had a new activity! Thru-out the sermon, pastor encourages us to read our bible. So, Bible reading it is! XD around 15 to 30 minutes we read the book of Mark first 2 chapter.. Good start for those hardly read Bible anymore!

His Generation : 4th September 2009
Lessons on the book of Proverbs..
Hola dudes. Last friday worship session was lead by Chrsitina. Thanks for the wondeful time of worship. Musicians were June, Kent, Andy, Ivan and Chester. Thanks for playing^^. After the wroship session, we prayed for all His Generation alumni. We also collected offerings. Soon, we prayed for Wei Qin and Jeremaiah who are taking UPSR examination. Pls do pray for them and for the form 5 & 6 students.
Soon, pastor preached on the book of Proverbs. Guess what? This book really open my eyes. Its all about knowledge and the fear of the Lord. In Proverbs 1:2, the word wisdom is the ability to use knowledge to solve problems. It teaches bout having self-controll and discipline. We really need this to understand sayings with deep meaning. In verse 3, (for acquiring a disciplined and prudent life) Prudent here means wisdom to live discipline and successful life. We'll learn what is right and wrong. So we can make a good decision in everything we're doing. It also teaches us to be honest(very important). This is to ensure we dont cheat or lie in any situation. Fair is inculded too. We should be fair to everyone, but how? Think for yourself guys =)
Verse 4, so from these, an ordinary person like me and you all can learn to be smart. When we are smart, we wouldn't mess up our lives. This will help us to endure our hardship in this earth and in the end, we can say this " I have run this race well, I have keep my faith strong, Here I am waiting to see you Father". Young people can gain knowledge and good sense. Eg: "I had decided to do this for the following reasons..." , "he seems like a nice guy but i think he's only trying to impress me". This can help us to make a right choice and prevent us from falling into traps.
Verse 5, For those who are already wise, reading proverbs will make u even wiser. Verse 5-6, Let those with understandings receive guidance by exploring the meaning in these proverbs and parables, the word of the wise and their riddels. Guidence is really important in our walk with God and making decisions. We need to ask God to guide us in every area of our lives to make good decisions. Its really important. So those who need guidance, please pray hard^^.
Verse 7, So how do we start being wise? What are you going to do? Do you want to be a fool? Only fools reject wisdom and good advice. So what are you waiting for? Lets start being wise by Respecting and obeying God. Remember guys, keep his commandments safe.
After the sermon, we have prayed for the fear of the Lord to be in us. Then we sang a worship song and went out for dinner. Thanks guys for the great fellowsip at Mac Donalds^^

Picture of the Week
Does Wei Lim enjoy school? This raises questions. He does actually but this is a day where the teacher doesn't enter class. Hope you believe me.
The Eight Legged Nightmare
One extra note. On the 14th, we were cleaning up the church. I was in charge of washing the air conditioner filters. I wash brushing them when Chin San called me to come down stairs. He said something of a big spider.
We searched at the toilet for anything crawling with eight legs. And voila, there it was. A big one with legs spread out as big as my hand. Sadly, I'm the only one around unafraid of insects or arachnids. C'mon who else in Kuala Terengganu keeps a pet scorpion at home. Grow up people, butterflies aren't the only arthropods on planet earth.
I know common house spiders rather flee than bite. And their fangs are too small to puncture human skin, and their poison is not fatal. I calmly pulled it onto my hands and let it loose outside.
So that concludes the story of our guest creeper. The guest with eight legs.

Surveying the scene...
